Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between the Halo Safety Ring and the Halo Safety Wing?

While both devices offer the same mobility benefits, the Halo Safety Wing is the only device that meets the FDA bed entrapment guidelines for zones 1, 2, 3 and 4, making it the device we recommend individuals, physicians and caregivers consider implementing for users living in memory care, or those experiencing a decline in cognitive or physical function. The Halo Safety Ring meets FDA bed entrapment guidelines for zones 1, 2 and 3.

How do I install my Halo?

Does the Halo bracket system attach to one or both sides of the bed frame?

Halo bracket systems attach to both sides of the bed frame and connect under the bed. Customers can install a Ring or Wing on one or both sides of the bed.

The bracket system I ordered doesn't fit my bed - what's wrong?

Check you have the correct model for your bed type (home-style vs. hospital bed). Model numbers for home-style beds begin with 77121, while those for hospital beds will begin with 773 or 777.

For home-style beds, the frame should measure either 1 1/4, 1 1/2 or 1 3/4 inches. Some beds use smaller "L" supports that do not provide adequate structural support for the Halo.

There are some hospital beds not compatible with the hospital bed bracket system (e.g. the bed's motor or hardware is blocking installation, or the U-channel bracket doesn't fit the shape of the bedframe).

Contact us if you think you have issues to discuss an exchange or return.

Are Halos compatible with adjustable home-style beds?

No. Halo bracket systems for traditional beds are not compatible with any adjustable styles. Only metal L-frames that measure either 1 1/4, 1 1/2 or 1 3/4 inches and designed to hold a boxspring and mattress (twin to queen sizes) provide adequate support.

Can I install a Halo on a king-sized bed?

No. Our home-style bed bracket systems are adjustable to fit twin to queen size metal L-frames that measure either 1 1/4, 1 1/2 or 1 3/4 inches.

Does Halo offer a model for bariatric beds?

Our models for hospital beds are adjustable up to 42 inches.

Are Halo devices approved by the FDA?

The FDA does not approve bed system devices, however, they do set the dimensional guidelines devices must meet. The Halo Safety Wing meets FDA guidelines for bed entrapment zones 1, 2, 3 and 4. The Halo Safety Ring meets FDA guidelines for bed entrapment zones 1, 2 and 3.
